Maryam Mohammadi
ABOUT
Art photographer, specializing in staged photography. She devoted her doctoral thesis to the subject of "Photography and Feminism" in UJEP-University (CZ).
She has exhibited in Iran and Europe and also curated photography exhibitions in Austria.
She has lived in Graz since 2009, where she was awarded the city Art Funds Prize. She was a lecturer at the Tehran Azad University of Art for several years. Her work focuses on how socio-political, cultural and religious conditions at both local and global levels affect women and also how these effects are inscribed into their biographies and identities. Occasionally she is also an illustrative object to reflect her process of socialization in different societal systems. For the last few years she has worked in intercultural, feminist adult education and youth centres. Since 2015 she has been part of the Graz Women’s Council.
Sie ist freischaffende Fotokünstlerin (Dokumentar- und Staged-Fotografie) und Kuratorin aus Teheran mit den Schwerpunkten Geschlecht und Sozialisation sowie Migration. Sie bezieht sich dabei immer wieder auf Frauen in verschiedenen kulturellen, religiösen und gesellschaftlichen Kontexten. Seit 2009 lebt und arbeitet sie in Graz.
2017 Abschluss Ph.D.-Studium in Fotografie und Bildende Kunst an der UJEP-Universität in Ústí nad Labem (CZ); Neben akademischen Lehrtätigkeiten und Workshops, sowie zahlreichen Ausstellungen und Projekten, erhielt sie bereits einige Auszeichnungen für ihre Werke, u.a. 2013: Kunstförderungspreis der Stadt Graz. Seit einigen Jahren ist sie im Vorstand von XENOS – Verein zur Förderung der soziokulturellen Vielfalt.
